2. Examination Details

This section includes an analysis of the number and type of multiple choice questions you can expect from each of the 10 domains and the topics examined in each of the 5 project management process groups.

3. Preparation Strategies

• Prepare yourself: Ensure you have the knowledge and skills to sit the PMP exam including terminology, essential formulas and techniques.
• Plan your exam: Ensure you have sufficient time to study and availability to schedule your PMP exam.
• Study strategy: This includes various study techniques to optimally prepare you for the exam and techniques to use during the exam.
• Beyond PMP: Ensures that you fully understand recertification requirements and the resources you have available to further your career.

4.  The Ten Knowledge Areas of the PMBOK®

• Integration management: Processes and activities needed to identify, define, combine, unify and coordinate the various processes and project management activities within the five process groups.
• Scope management: Processes required to ensure that the project includes all the work required, and only the work required, to complete the project successfully.
• Time management:  Processes required to accomplish timely completion of the project.
• Cost management:  Processes involved in planning,  estimating, budgeting and controlling costs so that the project can be completed within the approved budget.
• Quality management:  Processes include all the activities of the performing organisation that determine quality policies, objectives and responsibilities so that the project ill satisfy the needs for which it was undertaken.
• Human Resource management:  Processes required to organise and manage the project team.
• Communications management:  Processes required to ensure timely and appropriate generation, collection, distribution, storage, retrieval and ultimate disposition of project information.
• Risk management:  Processes concerned with conducting risk management planning, identification, analysis, responses and monitoring of the risks throughout the project.
• Procurement management:  Processes to purchase or acquire the products, services or results needed from outside the project team to perform the work.

• Stakeholder management:  Provides an overview of the Project Stakeholder Management processes that include the following: identify the stakeholders, plan stakeholder management, manage stakeholder engagement and control the stakeholder engagement.

5. The Five Process Groups of the PMBOK®

• Initiation Process Group: Defines and authorises the project or a project phase.
• Planning Process Group:  Defines and refines objectives, and plans the course of action required to attain the objectives and scope that the project was undertaken to address.
• Executing Process Group:  Integrates people and other resources to carry out the project management plan for the project.
• Monitoring and Controlling Process Group:  Regularly measures and monitors progress to identify variances from the project management plan so that corrective action can be taken when necessary to meet project objectives.
• Closing Process Group:  Formalises acceptance of the product, service or result and brings the project or a project phase to an orderly end.

• the  Professional and  Social Responsibility domain examined in the PMP

The Project Management Institute’s Project Management Professional (PMP®) credential is recognised as the “gold standard” of the profession. The objective of this course is to provide project managers with the knowledge required to take the PMP exam. It covers:

• the PMI® requirements to apply to take the exam
• a proven study strategy in order to best prepare yourself to pass the exam
• what you can expect in the exam
• on-going certification requirements
• the  processes  within each  of the  10 Knowledge  Areas of the PMBoK
• the Professional and Social Responsibility domain examined in the PMP
• other required source material of project management practices

Using the official PMBOK® Guide as the core text, all delegates will work through and identify their current strengths  and weaknesses  in  preparation   for  taking  the  PMP®   exam.  The  course includes interactive exercises, practice exams, workshops and overnight study, to help you learn essential PMBOK Guide terminology, tools and techniques.

• The official Agile Project Management Handbook v2.0 written and published by the Agile Business Consortium. This handbook is the definitive source for Agile Foundation and Practitioner knowledge.
• Official APMG certificate exam

Certificate Exams

There are two exams included with the AgilePM course. Both exams are based on the new Handbook (v2.0) and are set and marked by APMG:

Live Virtual Training – Participants will sit the exam online during the course. The exams are invigilated live by the ALC trainer via the Zoom session. The online exam is hosted by the examination institute APMG and accessed via a web browser.

**Should the participant be unable to sit the exam on the day of the course, an online exam voucher can be provided. The online exam voucher is provided at the end of the course and participants are required to sit their exam via the proctoru system. For more exam voucher information, click here. 

Face-to-Face Training – Participants will be provided with a paper-based exam which is completed whilst at the course in the same venue of the course itself.

Foundation Exam

The Foundation exam is held at the end of the Foundation module and comprises:

• Multiple choice format
• 50 questions per paper
• 25 marks required to pass (out of 50 available) – 50%
• 40 minutes duration
• Closed-book

Practitioner Exam

The Practitioner exam is held at the end of the Practitioner module and comprises:

• 4 questions
• Each worth 20 marks for a total of 80 marks
• 40 marks required to pass (out of 80 available) – 50%
• 2.5 hours duration
• Open book (restricted to the manual only) examination

AgilePM Practitioner certification is valid for 5 years. To maintain the certification, candidates will need to complete and pass the relevant Re-Registration exam.

Pre-Requisites

There are no pre-requisites to sit the Foundation exam. To be eligible to take the Practitioner exam you must have one of the following:

• AgilePM Foundation Certificate, or
• DSDM Atern Foundation Certificate, or
• DSDM Advanced Practitioner Certificate.
