Neil has successfully worked as an independent trainer and consultant for over 9 years, covering subjects such; as Lean Six Sigma, Business Analysis and Program & Project Management. Neil’s unique blend of industry experience and academic achievement allows him to demonstrate concepts in the learning environment using real-world, practical examples. Students appreciate how he brings course content ‘alive’ whilst challenging them to think critically and innovatively.
A book authored by Neil entitled, ‘Project Management in Practice’ has a PMI (Project Management Institute) PMBoK theme. The book has been adopted by many leading training organisations in Australia and is widely recognised in the industry.
Industry Experience
Neil’s recent consulting engagements include: Assisting organisations to establish ISO 9001 projects; building and recruiting Business Analysis capability; developing strategy and governance and; setting up Programs and Projects both from a capability perspective and as a manager of programs/projects. Engagements typically span a wide variety of organisation types and sectors (including Not-for-Profit organisations, Government departments and commercial industry).
Prior to starting his own consultancy, Neil worked in a variety of professional roles including: Strategic Adviser for a large energy distribution company; as the Information System Integration Manager at a large University; and, Service Desk Manager and Project Manager at a global software company (both in the UK and the USA). Prior to this, Neil was engaged as an IT Manager within commercial (emergency services) and government organisations (including the defence sector) in the UK. Adjunct to his working career, Dr. Neil was invited to lecture in the capacity of a sessional academic at the Queensland University of Technology (QUT) and the University of Queensland (UQ).
